What is "Prairie Steps?"
When we can, we enjoy hosting hikes between 2-3 miles to a place where we can meet, eat some breakfast snacks and juice, have a quick scripture lesson, and then get shuttled back home. It is a great time to get to know each other. All are welcome, just contact us first so we don't leave you behind.
The name comes from one of Bro. Rocky's blogs. After years of ultramarathon training, Bro. Rocky broke his leg severely. The specialist said he would probably not run again. About a year later, Bro. Rocky was hiking regularly on the Prairie Spirit trail and changed the name of his blog from "Life is an Ultramarathon" to "Prairie Steps." Soon after, by the grace of God, he returned to running ultramarathons.
" I have had some very special moments with the Lord on this trail. One day, while hiking the trail, I felt the Lord was leading me to share some of these moments with the IBTeens Sunday School class in a special way. I invited them to join me one Monday for a hike, and was surprised at the participation. From there, "Prairie Steps" was born. The devotions I give during a Prairie Step hike are usually inspired in my personal time with the Lord while hiking or running the trail."
