Rule #2
Don't Hang Around People Who Do Not Love God!
Don't Hang Around People Who Do Not Love God!
Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If
any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Now, I know somebody is thinking 1) How can I live in this world and not be around people who don't love God? or 2) But didn't Jesus hang around sinners? If you thought either of those, that is awesome! You are using your brain, and you are on the right track.
1. Yes, we cannot help but come into contact with people every day that do not Love God. In fact, God wants us to share our faith with those people. However, we don't have to "hang" with them. If they don't love God, they will encourage us to do things that are unpleasing to God. If they know that we don't want to do the things they enjoy doing, they probably will not want to hang around us anyway. That is okay. Jesus made it clear that this would happen.
2. Yes, Jesus hung around sinners in order to show them the truth. Jesus understood the hearts and minds of people he came in contact with. He knew exactly what they needed. Even still, after Jesus would forgive someone of their sins, He would tell them to "go and sin no more." Jesus didn't really hang around sinners that were sinning, He hung around sinners who wanted to be changed.
