Well, in a youth group, there probably isn't many spectacular chefs. However, this idea can be tailored to suit your group. Here is an activity we featured one Atomic Friday:
-We divided everyone into three teams
-We provided each team with necessary utensils, dishes, and a microwave to use
-We laid out a selection of pantry items (from the church, from our home, from our regular concession items...) making sure to offer a good selection of items (even if some ingredients seemed ridiculous)
-We set a time (three minutes) for each team to create the "drink of the month" for the night
-After one team was eliminated, the remaining teams were given a set time to create the "snack of the month"
-The winning team was awarded and their creations were featured at our snack bar (the Los Alamos) for the night
Be prepared for big messes. Be prepared to taste some good (and some not so good) creations. And be prepared for lots of fun!
