The object of this game was simple--get the ball in the basket. I guess you could use just about anything: a bucket, a laundry basket, a box...(we used an old metal washtub). From the other side of the room, the players had to throw the ball, bounce it, bank it off the wall...whatever they could do to get it into the basket from behind the line of tape (painters' tape works well for us). Here's how we played:
-We divided up into teams (like usual, we named them "red team" and "blue team").
-1 basket was placed on the other side of the room (a few feet away from the wall).
-2 judges were appointed to keep track of points earned by getting a ball in the basket (if the ball bounced out or was knocked off course by another ball, it didn't count).
-Each team lined up their players behind the line in the order they would be tossing.
-The first player from each team got 3 tennis balls to toss.
-When the youth leader said "Go," both teams began trying to toss their tennis balls into the basket.
-After tossing 3 balls, they ran to pick up 3 balls (it didn't matter which team had tossed them, as long as they brought back 3 balls to the starting line
-The next player would begin as soon as the previous player brought them their 3 tennis balls to toss.
-After a player took their turn, they would go to the back of the line and wait for their next turn.
-After 5 minutes (or whatever time limit you want to set), the team with the most points won.
Simple...but lots of fun! Hope this activity idea inspires a great activity for your youth group. Please comment below with any questions or suggestions you have for us. God bless!
